ReadSpeaker in D2L

Quick Start Guide:

ReadSpeaker is an assistive technology with read-aloud and voice-enhanced learning tools to allow all students to listen to audio while following along with highlighted text. Here is how it functions while built into D2L.

  1. Access your desired content on D2L.
  2. At the top of your screen, there will be the ReadSpeaker Box. Clicking the play icon next to the box will begin the ReadSpeaker tool reading the page aloud.
  3. You have many addition settings options within the D2L ReadSpeaker tool. Click the Menu Bar to open up additional menu options.
  4. Additional settings and instructions can be accessed in the ReadSpeaker for D2L Complete User Guide.

Quick Start Guide:

ReadSpeaker WebReader allows content interaction on a personal level and offers important learning tools that help understanding and improve retention and make it easier to access online content on the go.

  1. Navigate to the ReadSpeaker website. This can be done several different ways:
    • From the D2L Homepage, use the navigation bar and click on Then, click on the ReadSpeaker TextAid.
    • From within a course on D2L, use the navigation bar and click on Then, click on ReadSpeaker TextAid.
    • Directly navigate to the ReadSpeaker website using this link – https://ws.readspeaker.com/a/wasp/app/8. Bookmark this link for easy future use!
  2. From here, there are several different options:
    1. Using ReadSpeaker for Reading Existing Text
    2. Using ReadSpeaker for Help Creating New Text
    3. Reading Text from an Image
